How can I check and/or change the way a customer’s invoice is allocated?

Checking or changing the allocation of revenue is quick and easy.

Review revenue recognition on the Customers tab

See Customers tab: revenue recognition, MRR, ARR and customer reporting.

Be sure to use a “Revenue Recognition” view to see the entered revenue start and end dates.

You will see a summary of revenue recognised with detail listed by accounting customer.

  • Click the down arrow next to the customer’s name. This will show the detail of invoices issued.
  • Click on the invoice description or the box with arrow next to it.
  • This will show a pop up window with full details on the invoice, including the invoice line description, amount.  Xero users can also click directly into the invoice in the accounting system, using the link at the top right.

To change the start or end date, either type over the date or click the calendar and select the new date.

Remember to Save changes.

Changes made on this page will be saved throughout the system, wherever viewed.

Review start and end dates on the Invoices by month page

To review invoices issued in a given month, go to Journals>Review all invoices issued in [selected month]

To quickly check for date outliers,

You may also find it helpful to review by account - simply use the filter at the top right of the page.

To change the start or end date, either type over the date or click the calendar and select the new date.
